Why I Love Shopping at Outlets
I really enjoy shopping at outlets. I know that a lot of people don’t, but I wanted to give my reasons why I do.
Some say that the quality of clothing at outlets isn’t as good as the quality in the regular store. I think it depends. There are definitely some items that you can see were made for the outlet, and aren’t as good quality, but I find that’s rare. If a store normally has great quality clothes, the outlet will usually as well.
They don’t want you to associate low quality with their items, and so they’ll make sure even the outlets have great quality clothing.
This is also where you’ll often find incredible prices.
Usually, the regular price of outlet items are OK. They’re usually not all that awesome though. If you look at the regular price on the tag of an item, it’s probably only a little bit less than you’d pay for the item at the regular store.
But that’s just the beginning.
Very often, there will be some sort of sale going on. Whether the entire store is on sale, or just some items…something will be done to make the price go lower. It might even be a coupon that you can get (always make sure you check before you go to an outlet if you can print out a coupon for the store!) and use with your purchase.
But the best prices?
This is when the sale items go on sale.
Usually in the back of every store is a sale section (this goes for regular stores too of course.)
And every so often, that section will have an additional percent off.
So you get a sale on a sale.
THAT is when the prices are great, and I end up finding some awesome deals.
Take the shirt above. It’s from the White House Black Market Outlet.
I love their clothes. But they’re usually way to expensive for me to justify.
So I went to the outlet, and I looked at the sale rack, which was an additional 50% off the lowest price.
The sweater was originally just under $70. It had been marked down a few times, and was now marked at $44.
After the 50% off it was only $22! I was more than willing to pay $22 for a really cute sweater that I absolutely love.
Would I have bought it at $70? No way. Would I have even bought it at $44? Nope… But $22? I didn’t even have to think twice about it.
I’ve already worn the sweater out and love it.
During the same trip, I did something similar at the Talbots outlet. They had 40% off of their sale section, and I ended up spending $20 on a really nice shirt that was originally $6x.00 as well.
It does take patience, especially since often items aren’t grouped as they are throughout the rest of the store. So you’ll find one of one type of shirt, then a different shirt, and then maybe another one of the first shirt. Or the sizes may not always be in order. So definitely prepare to spend some time searching…
But if you’re willing to go through the sale section, you can find some awesome bargains!
Enjoy,
