The Fitbit Inspire: Is this the Answer to the Discontinued Fitbit One? (For those who Hate Wearing their Fitbit on their Wrist)

After looking at this picture you may not believe it, but if you’ve been looking for something to replace your Fitbit One…the Fitbit Inspire may be the answer.

Let’s talk about the Fitbit One for a second. It was like many of the other products out there that would count steps…but you could clip it on to you. So you could wear it on your bra, on your shirt, or on your pants. It was by no means perfect! Believe me…I went through 2 or 3 Fitbit One’s over the years, as did many other people I know. They just stopped working, or fell out of the clip completely when you were wearing them, causing them to get lost. Fitbit knew this too. But it was the best that was out there. It counted steps no matter what you were doing with your arms. It was great!

Then came the sea of step counters that you wear on your wrist. In fact, it seems like unless you want a regular pedometer, EVERY step counter is now something you must put around your wrist.

But I have 2 really big problems with that:

  1. I wear a wristwatch. It’s a watch that I really like. So when I want to wear a step-counter, it’s now bulky and uncomfortable. I have my watch next to it.
  2. Even more importantly…it DOESN’T TRACK ALL MY STEPS!! If you spend any of your time pushing a cart around a store, or push a stroller, you’ll quickly find that your entire trip didn’t track!

If you’ve ever walked through Target, you know it’s a huge store. So it’s really frustrating that after going through the entire store with a cart (which is what you’ll probably have if you’re going shopping) that you added NO steps to your tracker. It’s just as annoying to go out for a nice walk with your child in their stroller, only to find that once again, it didn’t count at all.

By accident really, last night I came across the Fitbit Inspire. Every so often I look up Fitbit on Amazon just to see if they’ve come out with a new one that you can wear somewhere other than your wrist, and one of the first results was for a clip that said it worked with the Fitbit Inspire! Lo and behold, I look up the Fitbit Inspire, and you CAN switch it to “on clip” mode instead of “on wrist” mode, and it will track your steps!! Yes, you now need to go out and buy a clip for it, but I found on Amazon you could get a 2-pack for $7.99, or a 3-pack for $9.99, so it wasn’t that bad.

I can’t tell you how excited I am! It never occurred to me to see if one of the wrist products could convert into a clip on tracker, but it turns out it does! I looked around, and it seems that most of the stores are selling it for the exact same price, including Amazon, so I was happy.

I also like the idea that the Fitbit Inspire comes with 2 size bracelets. If for some reason I don’t want to wear the clip on my waist that day, I can try using the larger one around my leg. That might not be bad too.  And of course if for some reason I want to wear it on my wrist, I can use the small one to wear on my wrist.

I’m just so happy to have an option that will count all of my steps again though! I find wearing a step-counting device very motivating, and it really gets me to move more each day. But knowing it wasn’t counting all of my steps actually made me less motivated, so I’m really happy to be able to go back to the “old” way of tracking.

I’ve also noticed that it seems that it’s a lot less expensive than some of the other wrist trackers as well. That made me even happier.

If you’ve been lost since the Fitbit One as well, you might want to take a look at the Fitbit Inspire!

I still want to do a little more research to see if I should get this, or if there is another option out there that’s even better…although at the moment this looks like the best option. I’ll post an update once I’ve decided!
