Just Got More Cash Back for Shopping at my Grocery Store!
Do you love using coupons at the grocery store, or do you hate them with a passion?
If you love them – and think it’s great that a little piece of paper can save you money, you’re going to love this.
If you hate them because you think it’s silly to cut a piece of paper out and then have to spend more time at the checkout waiting for others to go through with their coupons and then go through yourself hoping that the coupons come off, you’re going to love this too.
It’s called Ibotta.
It’s an app on your phone. Before(or right after) your trip to Target, Walmart, or your local grocery store (I was surprised to find out that my local Foodtown joined a few months ago!), you check the app, and see if anything you were going to get (or already bought) was on the list. If so, you add the offer to your account. Then, when you’re done shopping, you upload the receipt. It’s really easy, you just take a picture of the receipt and you’re done.
Almost immediately, you’ll get your cash back in your account! I’ve been doing this with Target for months, but yesterday realized that my local Foodtown participates. They do it a bit differently though. You add your grocery card to Ibotta, and your receipt is automatically sent to them, and the next day the cash back shows up in your account.
So if you already use coupons, this is awesome…its another way to get money back. And if you hate coupons, you don’t need to worry about cutting anything out or having issues with the cashier!
What I find really cool is not only do they have cash back for specific products (I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used the cash back for Fage yogurt!!!) but they often have things like $0.25 back on any purchase, or $0.25 back on cucumbers, any brand. I also just saw $0.25 off mangoes, any brand.
So whoever said that you can’t ever use a coupon on produce is now WRONG!
I just love that it’s so easy, and that it’s all done “behind the scenes.” I hate when I’m at checkout and the coupon won’t ring up. They sometimes treat me like I’m trying to get something past them, when I’m just trying to use a coupon for something I’m buying. Here, you can get it all done without having to deal with a person.

You can also get cash back from shopping…but as I usually use my laptop to shop and not my phone, I don’t take advantage of it. But if you use your phone to shop, you can use Ibotta first to get extra cash back!
When you are ready to redeem your cash…it’s up to you. You can get a gift card if you’d like, or you can get cash either from Venmo or Paypal. I’ve always gotten it back in Paypal.
