Disney Just Released the Enchanted Collection Princess Subscription Box – What do you think?

Disney Princess Enchanted Collection

Disney released something really cool yesterday. But I am completely torn as to how I feel about it. At the same time, I think it’s adorable and think that a lot of girls will really love this…but that it’s expensive and is it really worth it.

What am I talking about?

It’s the Disney Princess Enchanted Collection.

Every other month, you’ll get a magical Princess experience delivered right to you.

Let me start with what you get with each box, as there are 2 options to choose from…

The lesser expensive one is the Disney Princess Enchanted Collection (which starts at $49.99 per box) and includes:

  • A Disney Store Costume
  • A Read-Along Storybook & CD
  • Princess Stickers, Surprises and Activities
  • An Exclusive Video Greeting from the Princess
  • Special Offer: $10 Off Next $50 Purchase at ShopDisney or the Disney Store

The more expensive one, the Deluxe Disney Princess Enchanted Collection (which starts at $74.99 per box) includes:

  • A Disney Store Costume
  • A Read-Along Storybook & CD
  • Princess Stickers, Surprises and Activities
  • An Exclusive Video Greeting from the Princess
  • Special Offer: $10 Off Next $50 Purchase at ShopDisney or the Disney Store
  • Additional 2-3 Princess Toys or Accessories

Basically, the difference is for an extra $25 per box, you’ll get an additional 2-3 princess toys or accessories.

So why am I so torn?

On the plus side:

  • The Disney Princess dresses are absolutely adorable. They look high quality and what little girl wouldn’t want to play dress up with that?
  • You get a new dress every other month, so after the fourth month it would be fun to play dress up with her friends.
  • It comes with stories and activities, so on top of the dress you have things you can do with each box that she’ll enjoy.
  • The coupon is awesome. If you’re even considering getting something like this, you probably spend a lot of money at the Disney store already, so getting an extra $10 off when you spend $50 is pretty good.
  • Shipping is included. There is such a high shipping minimum on Disney’s site most of the time ($75) that it’s nice not to have to worry about shipping with this.
  • Once you get into the bigger sizes it’s 2 sizes together, so she’ll get more use out of it. Plus I’d probably order a size up anyway so that she’ll get a lot more use out of it. I’m sure the dresses will still look cute a little bit big, and then she can wear it for a lot longer.

On the negative side:

  • Paying $49.99 per box (and that’s only if you pay for a year upfront with 6 boxes) is a lot for a dress and some activities. If you’re buying it as a gift, that’s $299.94 for 6 boxes over the year.
  • If the person you’re buying the subscription box isn’t into every princess you will probably end up getting dresses she won’t care about, although from the page it looks like over the course of the year you get Belle, Moana, Ariel, Jasmine, Aurora, and Cinderella, so at least you know which they are.
  • These are kids dresses. They’re going to grow out of it. Even if you get a bigger size, it might last 2-3 years? But how much longer than that will she be able to wear them?
  • How much will she really play with the dress, and do the activities and video?

As you can see, I am really torn. My first instinct was that it was really cute for little girls who love to play dress up and love princesses, but the price just got me. I guess it would depend on how interested in dress up and princesses my daughter was. Right now she’s way too young to even fit into it, so I don’t have to worry about that yet. Maybe when she’s older I’ll feel more one way than the other!

Enjoy,
