Copycat Recipes – Better Than Going Out to Eat!

Wendys Spicy Chicken Sandwich
Looking up recipes online can be difficult.

There are SO many out there, that you don’t even know where to start.

Plus, how do you know which ones taste good?

That’s why I want to share one fun thing I like to do when looking up recipes online.

Look up copycat recipes for your favorite meals at your favorite restaurants.

Unfortunately, this only works at chain restaurants most of the time…but still, it’s a great way to find new recipes to make at home.

You’ll save twofold on this one. First, you won’t have to pay to go out to eat since you’re making it yourself. Second, you’ll know EXACTLY what’s going in your meal, so you can make sure it doesn’t have more calories than you’d like. Plus you can count on the fact that extra butter won’t be added to the recipe at home to make it taste even better like it can be in a restaurant.

I’ve found a few recipes that I now make at home that I really enjoy.

Some of them I like more than the restaurant! Some just taste very different, but I still like it.

Either way, it’s a great idea when you’re looking for something different to make at home.

Here are a few that I am currently making:

  • Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich – It tastes similar to what you get at Wendy’s. We really like this version though, and make it quite often. It’s nice because you can easily change the amount of the spices to make it to your liking, as well as use less oil to make it healthier!
  • Fettuccine Alfredo like the Olive Garden – Does it taste like the Fettuccine Alfredo at the Olive Garden? I have absolutely no idea, as I’ve never ordered it from there. But I can tell you that it tastes great, and this the the Alfredo recipe I use EVERY time. It’s easy and has very few ingredients, but tastes oh so good. Also, I use light butter in place of regular butter and can’t tell the difference.

If you’re looking for more, here are a few websites that have lists of copycat recipes:

  • Robbie’s Recipes – Has a good number of recipes from different restaurants. Make sure you look at the links at the bottom of the page to find even more.
  • Top Secret Recipes – You’ve probably heard of him before. He has books out about copycat recipes, and has quite a few free recipes on his site (note: some aren’t, you’ll have to see which is which). I’ve tried some and liked them before.
  • CopyKat Restaurant Recipes – I’m not sure I’ve tried any from her, but there are a lot of copycat recipes to choose from here!
  • Six Sisters 100 Best Restaurant Copycat Recipes – I haven’t tried it yet, but found a recipe that looks great from a restaurant I had never even heard of before!
  • CD Kitchen – Copycat Recipes – There are a lot of copycat recipes here.

It’s fun trying these copycat recipes, especially when there are a lot of reviews saying how good it is.

Now if only we could get copycat recipes for non-chain restaurants!

Enjoy,
