Buying Clothes on Amazon is Way too Easy & Inexpensive (Who Knew?)
I must admit, I used to be one of those people.
The ones who said, “But I can’t possibly buy clothes online. I need to try it on. I need to see what it looks like on me.”
And don’t get me wrong. It totally made sense. It’s true, different sizes fit depending on what store is selling them. You can’t tell online if a shirt will be flattering or not. Or if the colors are exactly how they look on your monitor.
But then I started seeing the prices of some of these items of clothing…
They were really cheap! Especially when Amazon has “Lightning Deals”! So I took a chance.
It wasn’t really too big of a chance. If you have Amazon Prime, most items you can return for free as well, so if you don’t like it, no big deal, just ship it back and you aren’t out any money.
My most recent clothing purchase was a shirt that was a lightning deal, and some really warm socks.
Why am I sharing this? Because I love to save money. I know others love to save money too…but you may not have considered this as an option before. So I am going to give you some of my finds over the last year and a half or so…and show you why I am all about buying clothes on Amazon when I find something now.
This tunic top is my most recent purchase. It was a lightning deal so I spent $14.81. It’s similar to a Talbots shirt I was looking at around the same time (but in black and white), which was on sale for $40. I really didn’t want to spend $40, since I didn’t really need the shirt – I just liked it a lot. It looks really cute with leggings (which coincidentally I also bought on Amazon.)
I’ve only worn it once so far as I just got it a few weeks ago, but the material is nice, not too thin, and it should last a while. I’m looking forward to wearing it again.
This has been a really, really cold winter. I had purchased another one of these sets of socks a year ago (multicolor 01 to be exact), and liked it. I then bought one for my sister, and then a few months ago bought one for my aunt. Last winter I wore them once in a while, but it wasn’t until November sometime that I truly appreciated how warm they kept me. So last month I found this set (multicolor 05) and for $8.99 purchased another set of 5. Turns out they’re only $7.99 now. I’ve been wearing these 10 pairs of socks very often this winter! They’re not only warm, but really cute too.
A few months ago, I saw this tshirt for $13.99, and something about it just called my name. It was cute, it wasn’t too expensive…and so I bought it.
This is where I tell you to make sure you read the comments before you buy clothes online. Not often, but sometimes, the shirts are made sized for Asian countries…and so you’ll need a larger size. I wear a small/medium (depending on the store/shirt), but after reading the comments, bought a large…and it fits exactly how I want it to. But then again, I don’t like tight fitted shirts…I wanted it a little looser, and it’s great.
This is another one of those purchases that I bought for myself, and now we all have them! I paid $10.99 for the 5-pairs of Disney socks, and since I’m a huge Disney fan, I absolutely loved them. I showed them to my sister, and she not only bought them for herself, but bought her young son one too (they sell them for Toddlers as well. They even have them for Men!) Once my daughter gets a little bit older, I’ll be buying them for her too. They’re just so cute, and bring a bit of magic to my day.
I will admit, I love nice comfortable pajamas. I have way too many pairs already, but I can’t say no to really nice soft comfortable pajamas. So when I saw these for $13.32, and saw the reviews, I had to have them. I had heard of Carole Hochman before, and knew they were high quality pajamas. I loved them. This is another one of those, I loved them so much, I got more. I then bought my sister a pair, and then got myself a second pair, this time in blue. While the price fluctuated, each one was under $14.00.
I was looking for a pair of leggings, and with over 1,000 reviews and a price of $11.99, figured I couldn’t go wrong. I was right. They are really comfortable, and fit well. I’m really short, so they are a bit long even though they’re supposed to be one size fits all…but I just folded the bottom under, and you can’t tell at all that they’re too long for me.
I had been looking in a few stores around the same time, and was shocked at how much more expensive they were. I figured it was worth trying the pair on Amazon, and now I’m glad I did.
This is the sweater that started it all. I saw it online for $16.99 as a Lightning Deal. It was summer, so I wasn’t really looking for sweaters, but was browsing the deals when I came across this. It looked really comfortable, and had great reviews. I knew I wouldn’t easily find a nice sweater like that out in a store for under $20, so I figured I’d try it…and ended up liking it so much that I bought a very similar one in black from the same company a few months later for $12.98. I still wear both (this was a year and a half ago) and they’re still in great shape.
The biggest problem shopping on Amazon for clothes? You’ll probably find too many things you like. There are a few shirts I’m looking at right now…plus Muppets socks (I didn’t even know until yesterday that they made Muppets socks for grownups!) But there are no lack of options. And as you can see, I didn’t pay too much for any of the items, and the prices do fluctuate a lot, so if they’re higher than you expect, just wait and see if they go down.
But if you’re trying not to spend money…don’t look. And definitely don’t look at the clothing lightning deals. You’ve been warned!
Enjoy,
